How do I create a reading list?

Create and use reading lists within RNIB Bookshare

Reading lists are a fantastic way of grouping books and other resources together for you, other staff and your print disabled learners to use. Find out how to create reading lists for various curriculum subjects, classroom topics and specific learners’ lists. In this video we show you how you can create lists, add book

Quick steps:

From "My homepage"

  • Select either "assign boooks to your learners (reading lists)" or "my reading lists" 
  • Select "create reading list"
  • Give your reading list a "name" and add a "description"
  • Ensure the status is "reading list visible to all reading list members"
  • Select "save"
  • You're taken to your list of learners (Members)
  • Check the box next to the learners who require access to the reading list
  • Select "add selected members"
  • You can always "add members" later

From a book record

You've found the book your learner needs and you want to add it to a reading list, but don't yet have a relevant reading list set up ...

  • In the search results view, select "add to reading list"
  • Select "add new" from the drop down menu and "add"
  • You're taken to the "create reading list" page
  • Give your reading list a "name" and add a "description"
  • Ensure the status is "reading list visible to all reading list members"
  • Select "save"
  • The book has automatically been added to the reading list
  • Next you to need to add learners to the reading list
  • Go to "my homepage"
  • Select either "assign boooks to your learners (reading lists)" or "my reading lists" 
  • Select the relevant reading list
  • Select "Members", you're taken to your list of learners (Members)
  • Check the box next to the learners who require access to the reading list
  • Select "add selected members"
  • You can always "add members" later
