Devi Purana: A Rendition of Srimad Devi Bhagavatam
by Dinesh BhatiaSrimad Devi Bhagavatam, also known as Devi Purana, is one of the many works of Maharishi Veda Vyasa. Consisting of 18,000 verses, it is divided into 12 chapters and numerous sections. Though classified as an upapurana (sub-Purana), it is the only Purana that Veda Vyasa terms 'Mahapurana', or the great Purana, at the end of each chapter. Vyasa's narration reiterates that the Supreme Goddess or the Divine Mother, as described in all scriptures, is the one beyond and above the Trinity of Gods and all Devas. The stories in the book not only establish this but also describe various manifestations of the Devi. All the Puranas are essentially collections of stories, through a narrator called Suta, who heard these from his guru, Vyasa. These, in their original form, are woven like a web and are not easy to comprehend since there is no defined order, be it chronological or otherwise. Dinesh Bhatia segregates and simplifies the stories as well as their underlying philosophies in order to present them in a simple and comprehensible way. He also reorganises the flow of stories as a direct narration by Vyasa to King Janamejaya, the grandson of Abhimanyu, while retaining the essence of the original work.

Es wird gezeigt, wie die Figuren Identitäten konstruieren, welche Faktoren, Fähigkeiten und Ressourcen hierbei zum Gelingen oder Scheitern beitragen und welche Identitätsfragen in den Texten verhandelt werden. Der Beginn ihrer produktiven Partnerschaft liegt bereits in der Jugendbewegung. Tetzner und Kläber begegneten sich auf Zusammenkünften von organisierten Jugendgruppen und pflegten Kontakt zu zahlreichen Persönlichkeiten aus diesem Umfeld, u. a. Eugen Diederichs, Friedrich Muck-Lamberty und Gertrud Prellwitz. Einige Beiträge des interdisziplinär angelegten Sammelbands zeigen detailliert, wie die frühe Auseinandersetzung mit den Ideen der Jugendbewegung das Werk des Autorenpaars nachhaltig prägte. Andere Aufsätze befassen sich mit der literarischen Darstellung der Jugendbewegung und literarischen Phänomenen aus dem Kontext der Jugendbewegungen in zeitgenössischen Werken weiterer Autor*innen, darunter Friedrich Wolf und Else Ury. Spaces of Adolescence: Contemporary German-language Youth Literature in Topographical Perspective

The narrated space is to be read in its construction and semantics as a complex symbol carrier that is able to connect different dimensions with one another. The study develops, with reference to cultural-scientific spatial theories, a methodical model to analyze current youth novels from a topographical perspective and thus to discuss the interweaving of space, movement and growing up. In the cultural studies and narratological view of (narrative) spaces of adolescence, new trends and developments in youth literature after 2000 manifest themselves. This book is a translation of the original German 1st edition Räume der Adoleszenz by Anna Stemmann, published by J.B. Metzler, part of Springer Nature in 2019. The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence (machine translation by the service DeepL.com). A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically differently from a conventional translation. Springer Nature works continuously to further the development of tools for the production of books and on the related technologies to support the authors.
