This is an open access book. The 4th International Conference on Tourism, Gastronomy, and Tourist Destination (TGDIC 2023) has the theme “Rethinking Sustainable Tourism and Gastronomy in Global Context.” Unlike the previous conferences which were held in Jakarta, Indonesia, this year the conference was held offline in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 16th – 18th October 2023. TGDIC 2023 serves as a forum for knowledge and experience sharing and invites tourism scholars, practitioners, decision-makers, and stakeholders from various regions to share their knowledge, experience, concepts, examples of good practice, and critical analysis with their international peers. Birds of the UK Overseas Territories


The UK Overseas Territories (UKOTs) are scattered across the globe. Most are small islands or island complexes, occurring from the Caribbean to the furthest reaches of the South Atlantic, via the Indian and Pacific Oceans. In terms of global biodiversity, these territories are remarkably significant. Among landscapes that range from coral atolls, through mangroves and dry forests to the ice sheets of Antarctica, the UKOTs support no fewer than 45 species of birds currently considered to be globally threatened. They are also home to a third of all the world's breeding albatrosses, and nine of the world's 17 species of penguin. In a rapidly changing world, the UKOTs symbolise global crises in climate and biodiversity. Co - Creation in Tourist Experiences (Contemporary Geographies of Leisure, Tourism and Mobility)


The tourist experience is multi-faceted and dynamic, as tourists engage with its formation and creation. The tourists then become vital in creating value for themselves together with the service provider. Experience value cannot be pre-produced, but is co-created between host and guest(s) in the servicescape. The tourist managers can therefore only plan for and facilitate for value co-creation to take place. Some phenomena are well-suited to heritagisation, such as animals memorialised for their bravery, long past agricultural techniques and implements, and impressive landscapes. However, this book also deals with products (e.g. tobacco), historical periods (e.g. the Third Reich) and scientific techniques (e.g. genetic modification) with negative connotations that extend beyond their heritage attributes. This volume considers how the actors in the heritage industry admit, valorise, prioritise and rationalise historic resources as heritage products. These findings provide practical examples of how heritage institutions privilege, frame and/or exclude a wide range of heritage items. They also contrast the invocations of sectional (local, national or class based) and more cosmopolitan heritages and consider the extent to which innovation and change are or can be acknowledged within the heritage discourse.
