Dieser Band führt 16 Aufsätze von Herbert Breger zusammen, die um Leibniz‘ Arbeiten zur Mathematik und Physik und ihre philosophischen Voraussetzungen kreisen. Drei interessante und ungewöhnliche Aspekte stehen hierbei im Vordergrund: Kontinuum, Analysis und Informales. Leibniz' Kontinuum und seine Analysis sind gerade wegen ihres Unterschieds zur heutigen Mathematik interessant. Anhand zahlreicher Beispiele wird ferner die Frage nach dem Verhältnis zwischen der mathematischen Rationalität und der Kunst gestellt und die nach den engen Beziehungen zwischen Mathematik und Philosophie bei Leibniz erörtert. Utility Maximization in Nonconvex Wireless Systems (Foundations in Signal Processing, Communications and Networking #5)

This monograph develops a framework for modeling and solving utility maximization problems in nonconvex wireless systems. The first part develops a model for utility optimization in wireless systems. The model is general enough to encompass a wide array of system configurations and performance objectives. Based on the general model, a set of methods for solving utility maximization problems is developed in the second part of the book. The development is based on a careful examination of the properties that are required for the application of each method. This part focuses on problems whose initial formulation does not allow for a solution by standard methods and discusses alternative approaches. The last part presents two case studies to demonstrate the application of the proposed framework. In both cases, utility maximization in multi-antenna broadcast channels is investigated.

Arbeitsbedingungen und Arbeitsbelastungen in der Pflege: Eine empirische Untersuchung in Rheinland-Pfalz

Ziel dieser Studie ist es, die Situation der beruflichen Pflege aus Sicht der Pflegekräfte in Rheinland-Pfalz nachzuzeichnen. Es soll die zentrale Frage beantwortet werden, wie die Pflegekräfte ihren Berufsalltag und die Arbeitsbedingungen in der Pflege wahrnehmen. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Untersuchung der wahrgenommenen Arbeitsbelastungen, dem selbsteingeschätzten Burnout-Risiko, den eingesetzten Bewältigungsstrategien sowie der Arbeitszufriedenheit. Als Datenbasis dient eine Online-Erhebung unter den Mitgliedern der Landespflegekammer Rheinland-Pfalz (n=830) aus dem Jahr 2017. Insgesamt zeigt sich, dass die Pflegenden der Studie besonderen Belastungen ausgesetzt sind, die sich aus mannigfaltigen Faktoren ergeben. Beispielsweise aus einer zu geringen Personalausstattung und damit einhergehender Arbeitsverdichtung und zunehmendem Arbeiten unter ständigem Zeitdruck. Neben den Problemen und Risiken bietet die Arbeit in der Pflege aber auch Chancen, welche die hohen Risiken kompensieren und sich gesundheitsförderlich auswirken können. Hierzu zählen individuelle Ressourcen und ein gutes Bewältigungsmanagement. Die Studie liefert einerseits neue Erkenntnisse zur Situation der beruflich Pflegenden in Rheinland-Pfalz und stützt anderseits bereits bestehende Befunde zu den Arbeitsbedingungen und Arbeitsbelastungen in der Pflege allgemein.
