The subject matter is concerned with understanding the nature of child development and the many influences upon which such development depends. Moreover, the clinical orientation emphasizes the extension of this research to top ics that directly affect the welfare of children and adolescents. Advances in Clinical Child Psychology publishes scholarly reviews and evaluations of many different areas of research and application. In the current volume, the third in the series, a variety of topics are addressed. These include the development of social behavior, the emergence and modification of sex-typed behavior, family systems, self-help proce dures to train parents, assessment of intelligence, childhood obesity, the development and treatment of asthma, pediatric psychology, treatment of severely disturbed children, language development, and education of disadvantaged elementary school students.

Advances in Clinical Child Psychology is a serial publication designed to bring together original summaries of the most important developments each year in the field. Each chapter is written by a key figure in an innovative area of research or practice or by an individual who is particularly well qualified to comment on a topic of major contemporary importance. Each author has followed the stan dard format in which his or her area of research was reviewed and the clinical implications of the studies were made explicit.

HooperIn this, the third volume of Advances in Child Neuropsychology, the editors have once again enlisted a broad range of contributors, each of whom has written a chapter that brings us to the current level of knowl edge in their respective area. The topics range from the relationship between electrophysiological responses in infants and later language development to advances in neuropsychological constructs. Although we still do not know enough about brain-behavior relationships in the normally developing brain, let alone in the atypical brain, a good deal of innovative, exciting, and very meaningful research is herein presented that furthers our understanding of neurodevelopmental issues. The cur rent volume reflects some of the results of an active period of research in child neuropsychology. It serves to further our knowledge of the field in all of its diversity and, perhaps, to provide the spark of interest or sudden "aha!" to the reader that will lead to new insights and productive research endeavors. The first chapter, contributed by Molfese, is perhaps somewhat tech nical in its presentation for the electrophysiologically uninitiated. How ever, its results and discussion sections follow up findings related to some of the data presented in Volume 1. The earlier work, which suggested that electrophysiological responses can be used to predict long-term developmental outcomes, is supported in the present report on the relationship between auditory evoked responses in infancy and later levels of language development.

This will be held 2–5 June in Alghero, Italy, hosted by the Computer Vision Laboratory, University of Sassari. The conference series is the premier forum for presenting research in biometrics and its allied technologies: the generation of new ideas, new approaches, new techniques and new evaluations. The ICB series originated in 2006 from joining two highly reputed conferences: Audio and Video Based Personal Authentication (AVBPA) and the International Conference on Biometric Authentication (ICBA). Previous conferences were held in Hong Kong and in Korea. This is the first time the ICB conference has been held in Europe, and by Programme Committee, arrangements and by the quality of the papers, ICB 2009 will continue to maintain the high standards set by its predecessors. In total we received around 250 papers for review. Of these, 36 were selected for oral presentation and 93 for poster presentation. These papers are accompanied by the invited speakers: Heinrich H. Bülthoff (Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, Tüb- gen, Germany) on “What Can Machine Vision Learn from Human Perception?”, - daoki Furui (Department of Computer Science, Tokyo Institute of Technology) on “40 Years of Progress in Automatic Speaker Recognition Technology” and Jean-Christophe Fondeur (SAGEM Security and Morpho, USA) on “Large Scale Deployment of Biom- rics and Border Control”.

Though rooted in the presentations of the 17th ISAP, held in 2013 in Dayton, Ohio, Advances in Aviation Psychology is not simply a collection of selected proceeding papers. Based upon the potential impact on emerging trends, current debates or enduring issues present in their work, select authors were invited to expand on their work following the benefit of interactions at the symposium. The invited authors include the featured keynote and plenary speakers who are all leading scientists and prominent researchers that were selected to participate at the symposium. These contributions are supplemented by additional contributors whose work best reflects significant developments in aviation psychology. Consequently the volume includes visions for the next generation of air management and air traffic control, the integration of unmanned (i.e. remotely piloted vehicles) into operational air spaces, and the use of advanced information technologies (e.g. synthetic task environments) for research and training. This book is the first in a series of volumes to be published in conjunction with each subsequent ISAP. The aim of each volume is not only to report the latest findings in aviation psychology but also to suggest new directions for advancing the field.

The series promotes research that investigates behavioral accounting issues. Volume 12 begins with a research study that examines the roles of organizational justice and trust in management control system. The second study explores whether qualitative information contained in annual reports contains potential fraud risk indicators. The findings suggest that deception can be detected by analyzing management's discussion and analysis and this may provide a useful method for predicting fraud. The next three studies examine ways to improve auditor decision making. The first examines whether justification and self review can mitigate the influence of client likeability when auditors make fraud judgments. The next study examines whether auditors make different decisions under principles-based accounting standards than rules-based standards. The results indicate that auditors are more conservative and less likely to allow clients to manage earnings when the authoritative guidance is principles-based. The third study, which examines auditors' decisions in a fraud examination, compares two methods of evaluating different hypothesis when multiple revisions in the decision process occur. The results indicate that certain aids designed to support the decision-making process can help auditors improve their decisions. The next study examines the use of different types of feedback and incentives to improve decision performance when using a decision aid. The results show that decision performance improves when the decision aid is designed to provide feedback to the user. The final two studies in this volume examine the expectations of accounting students. The first is a longitudinal study examining the expectations of staff auditors over the first two years of employment in a public accounting firm. The second examines expectations regarding the skills required to succeed in accounting. The research studies reported in this volume are both interesting and insightful and should prove useful in facilitating future behavioral research.
