Immer mehr dringt in der Philosophie der Gegenwart die Erkenntnis durch, daß philosophische Untersuchungen zu einem guten Teil sprachlogischer und sprachkritischer Art sein müssen, und im Rahmen solcher Untersuchungen nehmen jene der Semantik eine zentrale Stellung ein. Während die Logikkalküle nur mit der traditionellen formalen Logik in einem gewissen historischen Zusammenhang stehen, ist der Kontakt zwischen der Semantik und den althergebrachten philosophischen Pro blemen ein viel engerer. Dort steht bloß der Begriff der logischen Deduk tion im Vordergrund, hier hingegen der wichtigste Begriff der Erkenntnis theorie, nämlich der Begriff des wahren Urteils bzw. der wahren Aussage.
