- Synopsis
- This diagram shows a bar magnet with its magnetic field and five plotting compasses. There is a locator dot shown, which will be at the top left of the page when the image is the correct way up. The magnet is in the centre right of the page with its north pole (N) on the left and south pole (S) on the right. The magnet's magnetic field is represented by arrows up and down the page from the magnet that curve around from its north pole to its south pole on the right. The plotting compasses can be found up the page from the magnet and to the left and right of its poles. Their needles follow the direction of the magnet's field.
