- Synopsis
- This is a labelled diagram of an experimental set-up to compare the rate of heat conduction of three materials. There is a locator dot shown, which will be at the top left of the page when the image is the correct way up. At the top of the page are three wax-tipped rods going horizontally across the top of the page. Each rod is has a blob of wax on its tip on the right of the page and each has the same dimensions (length and thickness). The rods are labelled to the right with a letter. The rods are being heated by a bunsen burner in the bottom left of the page. It is important that the left hand ends of the rods are all at the same distance from the heat source. The heat energy travels to the blobs of wax on the right of the rods and the wax on the most heat-conductive rod melts first.
