- On this page here are two labelled images of villi in the small finger-shaped projections on the epithelial lining of the intestinal wall. There is a locator dot shown, which will be at the top left of the page when the image is the correct way up. In the bottom left of the page is a cross section of the small intestine.In the centre and right of the page is a cross section of a villus, showing the blood vessels that supply it and the type of molecules that it can absorb.The size of an individual villus is approximately one millimetre.
