- Synopsis
- The image shows the cross section through bone connective tissue. A locator dot and title are shown. These must always be at the top left of the page when the image is the right way up. Bone connective tissue strengthens the skeleton and consists of cells arranged in cylindical layers around a central (Haversian) canal containing a blood vessel. Cells known as osteocytes are networked to each other via long cytoplasmic extensions that occupy tiny canals called canaliculi.
