- Synopsis
- There are two images on this A4 sheet: a cylinder, and a net of a cylinder. You can cut along the fine vertical line down the centre of the A4 sheet, to make two A5 pages with an image on each. There will be a locator dot shown at the top left of each A5 page when it is the correct way up. Cylinder - The image of a cylinder is on the left of the sheet. It shows the 3D shape of a cylinder in perspective so that both the side and top faces of the cylinder can be found. The circular shape of the top of the cylinder has been distorted in this image so that it appears to be an ellipse (oval). The cylinders one curved side face is down the page. The circular cross section of the cylinder stays the same to its bottom face. Each of the faces shown has a different texture (or different shade of yellow in the Large Print image) The top and side faces have been numbered to correspond with the faces on the net of a cylinder. Net of a cylinder - The net of a cylinder is on the right of the sheet. It is a flat (2D) image of its faces, arranged so that they can be folded together to make the solid 3D shape of the cylinder. The circular top face of the cylinder is at the top of the image. Down the page from this are the side and bottom faces of the cylinder. To make the 3D shape, the left and right edges of the side face are bent round to meet each other and the circular top is folded down to meet the top of the side face and the bottom face is folded up to meet the side face.
