Bookshare’s fee structure is based on the World Bank designation of countries as being high-income, upper-middle income, lower-middle income or lower-income. All fees listed below are in U.S. Dollars (USD). To join Bookshare, any individual must have a qualifying condition, regardless of their country of residence.

World Bank Country Tier

High Income

Countries such as: U.S.*, Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, and most European countries

  • Individual Membership
    • $50 annual subscription fee (up to 200 books/month)
  • Organizational Membership (schools, senior centers, other organization): 
    • $300 for 30 book downloads
    • $450 for 60 book downloads
    • $600 for 100 book downloads

Upper-Middle Income

Countries such as: Argentina, Brazil, China, Ecuador, Jamaica, Mexico, Romania, South Africa or Turkey

  • Individual Membership
    • $20 annual subscription fee (up to 200 books/month)
  • Organizational Membership (schools, senior centers, other organization): 
    • $120 for 30 book downloads
    • $180 for 60 book downloads
    • $240 for 100 book downloads

Low or Lower-Middle Income

Countries such as: Egypt, Ghana, Guatemala, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Philippines, or Sri Lanka

  • Individual Membership
    • $10 annual subscription fee (up to 200 books/month)
  • Organizational Membership (schools, senior centers, other organization): 
    • $60 for 30 book downloads
    • $90 for 60 book downloads
    • $120 for 100 book downloads

* U.S. Students: Through an award from the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), UK education collection offers free membership to U.S. Students who are enrolled in a 4-week or longer course at a valid U.S. school.  U.S. Schools can also obtain free Organizational Memberships via this award.
