I was made aware of the 1903 Leonidas Hubbard expedition to the interior of Labrador when one of my sons brought home from college a book entitled "Great Heart", by Davidson and Rugge. I enjoyed it very much, and decided to track down and read "The Lure of the Labrador Wild". The author, Dillon Wallace, was a part of the expedition described in the former book, and I thought it would be good to get his perspective. I found it thoroughly enjoyable and very hard to put down... I read it in two sittings. The book generated some controversy and hard feelings when it was first published, particularly between the author and the widowed wife of Leonidas Hubbard. Nonetheless, I think that it is an eminently readable historical acount of a wonderfully conceived, but ill-fated expedition at the turn of the last century... exactly one hundred years ago while I read it, it turned out.<p> Peter Nunes (peter.nunes@verizon.net)Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA
