- Synopsis
- This page shows a diagram of the process of cloning an animal. There is a locator dot shown, which will be at the top left, when the image is the correct way up. There is a cell (skin, udder) from an adult sheep in the top left of the page and an ovum from a different sheep in the bottom left of the page. To the right the nucleus is taken from the cell and the ovum has been emptied. In the middle of the page the nucleus is fused with the empty egg cell by a stimulus from a mild electric shock. This starts to develop into an embryo. The embryo is implanted into the uterus of a third sheep. When the lamb is born it will be an exact clone of the sheep that donated the adult cell.
